Marcus Brigstocke fresh from his BBC TV show ‘The Late Edition’ was kept exceptionally busy by Comicus as he entertained three major clients in central London. Marcus is a natural sophisticated corporate artiste. He had the top partners of Price Waterhouse falling about with laughter with his financial routines. Later it was another group of accountants exposed to Marcus’s topical wit and humour at the well respected Financial awards in Park Lane. Marcus’s DVD (Produced by Comicus director Matthew Willetts) was just as popular with the delegates as with the general public (see TV & New media page).
The Comicus cruise team continued to prove a massive success on ships the Ventura, Oceana and Ocean Village. In particular performances by Simon Fox, Kevin McCarthy, Mark Maier, John Newton and Keith Fields were notable for a great audience reaction.

Sean Meo headlined an important corporate conference in Chester. Sean as laid back as ever went through his routines on wine tasting, the London underground and travel. The client, a respected chain of bookmakers were giving short odds on Seans continued rise to the top of the comedy ladder along with a beautiful letter of thanks.
Jim Tavare, fresh back from America, resumed his successful tour of Warners Hotels. To much applause Jim was asked to return to the stage twice by a delighted audience. Comicus wish to send their congratulations to Jim who has recently made a massive impact in the States on the programme ‘Last Comic Standing’ which can be seen on the Paramount channel in the UK.

This month saw the start of a new Mediterranean cruise season and with it the launch of the new P&O ship the Ventura. The noise of Fireworks, Dame Helen Mirren broke the champagne on the ship while Comicus were busy producing the shows in the Ventura Comedy lounge. Some exciting new comics will be performing this summer on board the Ventura alongside our other ships Ocean Village, Oceana & Arcadia. What a busy summer it is going to be.
Jo Caulfield & Jo Enright went out on tour in the new Comedy Shop tour with 3 other males comics. The two females proved just how funny they can be.

Comicus believes its standards are of the highest. Being a long time member of The Agents Association of Great Britain keeps us up-to-date with new government legislation and acts as a forum to meet many other managers and agents in the business. The AGM & Gala Ball was held at a country hotel in Warwickshire where conversations took place on contracts and the new artistes appearing on circuit. Talking of new artistes two Comicus students of comedy made the final at The Comedy Store London. Our comedians on board our famous cruise liners continued to supply roars of laughter as the ships made their way back from a highly successful winter season in the Caribbean.

Max Boyce, one of the greatest stand up comedians to come out of Wales, entertained a gathering at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. Pre-dinner drinks were served on the edge of the pitch with the tones of a Welsh male choir lofting over the conversation. The talk was mainly of the Wales Rugby match with Italy on the Saturday. Max was due to speak for 20 minutes and ended up doing 40 to mass applause. The organisers later said they had never had such positive feedback on one artiste. Max Boyce is a great entertainer and dearly loved by all.

Jim Tavare started a tour of Warner Luxury Hotels, supplying the musical comedy entertainment to a packed audience on the Isle of Wight. Jim absolutely loved it. He has six other dates during the spring. Jack Dee hosted the office awards at The Grosvenor House. Jack proved a massive hit with the audience as he compared the evening and gave out the sparkling trophies. Jack introduced one of Comicus’s most popular corporate comics, Stephen K Amos, who soon had the audience in the palm of his hand. A great night all round.

The official launch of ‘Planet Courdroy’ Comicus started the Caribbean cruise season with over 50 different comedians performing on five cruise ships all sailing around the Caribbean. We wish all our comics a great Winter season of laughs, sun & sand on some of the best cruise ships in the world. On the corporate side John Moloney gave a typical strong performance at The Dorchester Hotel in front of financial companies from the City of London. In true Moloney style he complained about everything. Stephen K Amos, one of our most popular corporate comics, performed on the bill at the Royal Variety show in Liverpool. This was quickly followed by a TV spot on ‘Live at The Apollo’ to be shown later next year.
October 2007
Stephen K Amos entertained & presented the awards in the Midlands for a Child Association. Comicus also supplied the band which entertained the packed dance floor until the early hours with a selection of music from the 60s, 70s & 80s. Amos, known for his ability with audiences, did not disappoint with plenty of hilarious ad libs and conversations at tables with various delegates that left everyone in stitches of laughter.

No sooner is Edinburgh over than we set our attentions to the Autumn season. Much focus was put on the filming and development of Marcus Brigstocke’s DVD ‘Planet Coudroy’. It was Marcus’s first DVD arranged by Comicus and our director Matthew Willetts who was Executive Producer on the project. The DVD should be out in time for Christmas so make sure you buy a copy for your Xmas stockings. The photo shows the final stage preparations and camera check before the audience came in to enjoy what was a fantastic performance by Marcus. Make sure you buy the DVD!
