Bob Brown

Bob Brown is an endurance athlete.  In October 2005 he achieved a new World Record running across the European Union in record time - 3000 miles in 54 days which entailed running an average of 55 miles a day.  In 2004 he became the first Briton to win the toughest race in the world-the 2004 Run Across America. Starting in Huntington Beach (LA) he raced 3100 miles across deserts, mountains, rain, hail, humidity and intense heat. Running nearly two marathons every day with no rest days, finishing 71 days later in New York, Bob managed to win by over 62 hours over the 2nd placed athlete. Also, he raised over £40,000 for his chosen charity CHICKS.

As a teacher Bob constructed an educational project on his website for children to follow his challenges, benefit educationally, but also, more importantly to inspire and motivate them to do things themselves.

He has a natural ability to motivate and inspire. His aim is to spread the message that anything is possible if we put our minds to it. His presentation delivery is humorous and witty, but there is an important underlying message behind it.

Bob started out as a very ordinary athlete, keen but ordinary. Over the years through hard work, dedication, self belief and desire to pursue his dream- he became the best in the world at ultra triathlons, culminating in a world record breaking performance in the world's longest triathlon-the Deca Triathlon (24 mile swim, 1120 mile cycle, 262 mil run) .

He then wrote his autobiography before becoming the 1st Briton to run across Australia. He has since qualified as a teacher, but came out of retirement to achieve his greatest triumph/victory in the toughest race in the world -the 2004 Run Across America.

Bob’s 2005 Run Across Europe was the third leg of his quest to run around the world.  He hopes to complete one Circuit of the World in 2007.

“In my role as the Manager of the Great Britain team I look to provide a variety of entertainment for the players during our time together in the team hotel. For the first time this year we decided to invite somebody into the hotel to speak to the players. It was an amazing experience. It is very hard to impress most professional sportsmen. They’ve seen and done quite a lot in their lives, but they will all remember the time when Bob Brown came to speak with the Great Britain Team in 2004”. (Phil Clarke Manager Great Britain Rugby Team)

Purely inspiring – there is nothing you cannot do – if you believe. Thanks Bob (Head teacher – First Primary National Conference)
